The courses will give a thorough understanding on not only preparing all kinds of food from various sections of a kitchen but also teach the structure of hotel and restaurant operations specifically kitchen organization in relation to other departments and recognize customer needs and preferences in the domestic market as well as over cross border and regional tourist destinations.

The first provincial college in Bandarawela was initially started in 1999 and later on after the new hotel school building was built by the Uva Provincial council, the current institute was opened in year 2004.

While certificate level courses in Professional Cookery, Hotel Reception, Restaurant & Bar Service, and Hotel House Keeping are offered, the facilities of the Bandarawela Hotel School include modern Lecture rooms, well equipped kitchen, training restaurant, mockup rooms, computer Laboratory and Library.

Welcome to SLITHM 

• The Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism & Hotel Management (SLITHM) is the only Government approved premier Institute in Sri Lanka, which was established by the Government in 1964 to train young men and women in the complex eld of Hospitality and Travel Industry. SLITHM is managed by the Ministry of Tourism Development and Christian Religious Affairs. Further, in order to facilitate students island-wide, provincial schools have been set up in Anuradhapura, Bandarawela, Pallekelle, Koggala, Ratnapura, Kurunegala and Pasikudah.
